Let’s understand that a vase is a vessel. Vessels are used to hold things. Though today, vases are known to be used to hold flowers, they might have been more than flower vessels in times past. They might have been used to store oil, water, etc.

Vases are nice looking. It is not necessarily true that if a person loves a vase he will also love what is inside. What if what is inside is not desirable?

What this proverb seeks to tell us is this – using marriage as an example, if a person desires to marry, he should also be prepared for both the joy and the challenges in marriage.

If you love to serve as a president, you should not only welcome the advantages and the opportunities, but you should also be ready to fulfill the responsibilities and deal with the challenges of managing a country.
