I learned that Brazil is the country outside Africa that has the largest Black population. After Nigeria, Brazil comes next as the country with the second-largest black population worldwide.

According to worldpopulationreview.com/countries/brazil-population, in 2022, Brazilians are asked to report whether they believe they are white, black, brown, yellow, or ‘indigenous’.

The results of the census indicated that 92 million (48%) Brazilians were white, 83 million (44%) were brown, 13 million (7%) were black, 1.1 million (0.50%) were yellow, and 536,000 (0.25%) were indigenous.

I think the brown and the black people are people of African descent – they are the people who are generally referred to as blacks. Hence they form the largest part of the Brazilian population.

You are right in saying if revenue from natural resources was not enough and able to bring development to Africa, what good will taxes from prostitution do? It will achieve nothing.

A person selling her body for money should be viewed as self-abuse, not a taxable and acceptable occupation. However, in some African countries, prostitution is legal:

The poor man and the rich man story is from of old. It is widely believed that the rich man became rich by usurping money from the poor.

In my view, it is not always true. The very rich people I know in this world are what they are through clever innovations and serviceability. The likes of Dangote, Mark Zuchovic, Bill Gates, etc. are so rich because of their innovation, creativity, etc.

There is another category of rich folks who have developed a subtle way of making money by taking advantage of others, especially the poor. For this category, no matter how much they have amassed for themselves, they are yearning for more and would usurp the little that the poor have to live on without feeling any compunction.

They do not have any compunction because that is what they have been doing all along to become rich.

In my country, for instance, partisan politics is one back door people use to get rich quickly. It is all about fighting, bribing, or buying your way into power and once you lay hold of power or a higher office, you usurp and misuse the poor taxpayers’ money.

Great talk, @kkw. Fools by nature cannot control their tongue – that is why they’re fools. They talk plenty, making it look like they know all. And they go too far talking about things they do not know and testifying about something they have not seen, etc.

Eventually, their tongues dig their graves. As individuals, we should try as much as possible to tie our tongues when necessary. Talking plenty is detrimental.

You would have to tell many more lies to make your first lie believable – by so doing you become a perpetual liar and a dangerous person. If you tell a lie and later tell the truth, of course, your lie would be at odds with your truth, making you appear dishonest and doubtable.

To avoid any of the two situations, let’s tell the truth at all times. Why resort to lies? Lies do not pay?

Everyone should understand that using force to have your way in life is far from a wise thing. This proverb does not only apply to the home; it has a lot of relevance in business and political circles.

A leader proves to be less wise if he resorts to force as his leadership strategy. When such people are in leadership, they do not want any from of opposition. neither do they want to hear the opinion of others, rather, they force their way through everything.

Normally, corrupt leaders who rule to seek their own good and not that of the populace resort to force, imposing oppressive laws and policies on the people.

Truly, everyone appreciates kindness. Even the blind appreciate kindness and can identify a kind person if there is any in his life. In the same way a deaf person appreciate kindness and knows the one who has been kind to him.

Many years ago in Russia, a man called Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin who was a trusted counselor or friend of the Russian royal family was responsible for the chaos that erupted in the country, leading to the overthrow and death of the royal family.

This happened because this fellow Rasputin who was a mystic and self-proclaimed holy man befriended the Russian royal family and his bad advice or bad counsel led to the ruin of the reign of the Russian emperor Nicholas II.

A heavy downpour caused a bridge in my vicinity to collapse. For those of us who use the bridge, it was bad news or bad luck, more or less.

But for the contractor who has been given the contract to rebuild the bridge, it was was a good luck. Life is just like that.

Wisdom is an abstract thing, it is not a tangible good or commodity like gold, jewelry, money, etc. that can be hidden. For the very reason that wisdom is an abstract thing, you cannot tie nor hide it.

The proverb means that wisdom cannot be hidden; we can see wisdom all around us. The phones, the cars, the PCs, etc. we use are all expressions of wisdom.

In the community, some people abstain from alcohol, smoking, immorality, crime, etc. and they often live a long happy life – that is an expression of wisdom.

The good ideas, policies, plans, strategies, etc. that institutions, companies, communities,  and countries set up to increase production, ensure financial independence, ensure development, etc. are expressions or examples of wisdom.

Wisdom is every where we turn our heads or turn our eyes to look.

A baobab tree has a truck that is so huge that you cannot completely wrap your arms around it. Comparing wisdom to the baobab tree like that means that wisdom is too large, wide, or broad for an individual to have it all and it is too deep for one to fathom.

We get it that one individual cannot completely wrap his arms around a baobab tree, but what if they are many. When people join hands, they can embrace a baobab tree. This means that sharing our wise thoughts and wise ideas we can do expoits in our community, nation, etc.

The opposite of this is that foolish people or people who are not wise do not stand a chance of solving difficult problems. Every problem, no matter how difficult it is, can be solved, but only by a wise man.

Wisdom is not far from anyone who seeks it; anyone who wishes to be wise can learn to be one – especially, they can learn the ways of the wise people in order to become wise.

Ingratitude does happen in many forms. Sometimes, it is simply the neglect of showing gratitude to a benefactor. And sometimes, the ungrateful beneficiary does his benefactor a bad turn.

Ingratitude offenses good people so much. Whiles the good benefactor is hurt by his beneficiary’s ingratitude, the beneficiary himself is cut off from receiving any more help from the benefactor. This leads to the beneficiary’s undoing.
