We all know that hot coffee is the one that still has a significant amount of heat. Coffee fans may bear witness to the fact that hot coffee tastes better than when it is not hot.

Let’s come to hot love. When is love hot? Perhaps, hot love refers to young love; that is, the early stages of a love relationship. If that is what it means then that love too is sweeter than usual.

At that stage, the lovers fall head over heels in love with each other; they see each other often, they would like to hear from each other daily, give surprise gifts to each other, etc. – that is hot, sweet love, I guess.

Coffee and love taste best when hot; the word when in the proverb introduces an element of time. The proverb can be said like this, Coffee and love are much more enjoyable at the time they are hot.

I think the proverb seeks to say that you get to enjoy something better when it is done at the right time. OR. You get to enjoy something when it is done in its season.
