What is the westernmost point of the African continent?

Santo Antão, which is the second biggest island of the Cape Verde islands, is the westernmost point of the entire African continent.

The easternmost point of the entire African continent is the Rodrigues of Mauritius. Whereas Santo Antão is the westernmost point of the entire African continent. While Rodrigues is in the Indian Ocean, Santo Antão is in the Atlantic Ocean. 

Santo Antão is the second biggest island of the Cape Verde islands. Santo Antão is the most northern and the most western island of the Cape Verde archipelago, with an area of 785 km2. The highest point of Santo Antão is Topo de Coroa, which rises to 1979 m high. Santo Antão is a great place for hiking and swimming.  

Santo Antão is the Portuguese translation of Saint Anthony. The nearest island is São Vicente to the southeast, separated by the sea channel Canal de São Vicente. With a population of 38,200 in mid-2019, it is the fourth most populous island of Cape Verde. Its largest city is Porto Novo located on the southern coast. Santo Antão is 42.75 km long from east to west and 23.97 km wide from north to south. 

Santo Antão is full of highlands and deep valleys; towns are spread over the highlands overlooking the deep valleys. This creates a spectacular view at every twist and turn.

Santo Antão is a popular tourist destination in the country of Cape Verde. It is also a hiking destination for most tourists. In fact, with its mountainous landscape, it offers amazing hiking adventure and it is among the best hiking destinations in the West African sub-region.

Since Cape Verde is the westernmost sovereign nation in Africa, its most western island, Santo Antão, is the westernmost point of the entire African continent.

Cape Verde itself is an archipelago and island nation in the Atlantic Ocean, consisting of ten volcanic islands with a total land area of about 4,033 square kilometers. It sits in the Atlantic Ocean opposite Senegal and has a population of 561,901 as of 2021. Their official language is Portuguese and their capital city is Praia.
